JOHN VARKEY
John Varkey and his wife Shiji have been married for 30 years and have three adult children. In addition to serving on the Advisory Board of the St. John Paul II Foundation, John has been an active member of the Catholic community. John has served in various roles, including prison ministry, RCIA, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and as lay chaplain. Those roles have played an important part in John’s life, but none have been more important than his roles as husband and father. As parents, John and Shiji are in awe of the journey God has called them on, and as such they take seriously their role as the primary spiritual guides in the lives of their children. Through the various stages of their children’s lives, they have endeavored to cooperate with the Holy Spirit to pass on the gift of faith and help them embrace the vocations God has planned for them. When not engaged in his primary roles, John works as an executive at a Fortune 500 company in Houston.
