SUSIE SAENZ
Chief of Staff and Vice President, St. John Paul II Foundation
Susie Saenz is Chief of Staff and Vice President at the St. John Paul II Foundation where she is responsible for providing counsel to the President, managing the Office of the President, promoting overall operational efficiency for the Foundation across departments, and representing the Office of the President. Susie earned her BS in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University and, prior to joining the St. John Paul II Foundation in 2017, worked at Baylor College of Medicine in the philanthropy and alumni relations office. She and her husband, Victor, along with their son, are parishioners at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Houston and enjoy gathering with friends over a meal, wine, and lively conversation. Susie has benefited greatly from the mission of the St. John Paul II Foundation during her time as a team member and continues to be grateful and humbled to have the opportunity to use her gifts and talents to enrich the lives touched by this apostolate.
MALLORY SMYTH
National Speaker, Author, and Podcaster
Mallory Smyth is a national speaker, author, and podcaster having authored the book Rekindled and Walking with Purpose Bible Studies. Mallory has been in full time ministry for the past 13 years. She has worked formerly as a FOCUS missionary and a content creator for Walking with Purpose. It is her dream to see Catholics fall deeply in love with God and grab hold of the joy offered in the Gospel. She lives in Denver with her husband and five children.
JOHN VARKEY
John Varkey and his wife Shiji have been married for 30 years and have three adult children. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors for the St. John Paul II Foundation, John has been an active member of the Catholic community. John has served in various roles, including prison ministry, RCIA, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and as a lay chaplain. Those roles have played an important part in John's life, but none have been more important than his roles as husband and father. As parents, John and Shiji are in awe of the journey God has called them on, and as such they take seriously their role as the primary spiritual guides in the lives of their children. Through the various stages of their children's lives, they have endeavored to cooperate with the Holy Spirit to pass on the gift of faith and help them embrace the vocations God has planned for them. When not engaged in his primary roles, John works as an executive at a Fortune 500 company in Houston.
CHAD JUDICE
Author & National Catholic Speaker; Director of Catechetics, Diocese of Lafayette, LA
Chad Judice is a nationally recognized motivational speaker, an award-winning author, and former teacher in the Theology departments of two Catholic High schools in Lafayette, Louisiana for seventeen years. He is the author of three inspiring prolife, pro-faith books whose central character is his second son who was born with spina bifida. The books are Waiting for Eli, A Father's Journey from Fear to Faith; Eli's Reach: On the Value of Human Life and the Power of prayer; and Growing with EIi: Our Journey into Life and Light. Eli's Reach was named the best book by a small publisher in 2013 and Growing with Eli received honorable mention in the category of Family Life in 2019 by the Catholic Press Association.
His articles have been published in the New York Post, The National Catholic Register, and The Word Among Us. He's been a guest on national TV and radio shows including EWTN's The World Over Live, Catholic TV's Seize the Day and Catholic Answers Live.
Chad has earned certificates in Theology, Apologetics, Philosophy, Church History, Old and New Testament Studies, and the History of the Roman Rite from the New St. Thomas Institute. He has an Advanced Catechist and DRE certification from the Franciscan Catechetical Institute in Steubenville, Ohio. Chad is currently the Director of the Office of Catechesis for the Diocese of Lafayette, Louisiana, where he assists Bishop J. Douglas Deshotel in handing on the Deposit of Faith Jesus Christ revealed to the Apostles and provides catechetical resources and oversight to 122 Church parishes and 30 Diocesan schools.
For the past 16 years, he has given presentations to more than 100 audiences in 17 states, addressing Man to Man conferences, Respect Life gatherings, leading retreats, and conducting parish Lenten and Advent missions.
REV. DAVID ANGELINO
Pastor at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Sugar Land
Fr. Angelino, pastor at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Sugar Land attended the University of Saint Thomas in Houston for a short time before entering seminary – first at Holy Trinity Seminary in Irving, then at the North American College in Rome, earning a Licentiate in Moral Theology from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas (the Angelicum).
Since his ordination to the Priesthood in 2015, Fr. Angelino has served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Jerome parish in Houston, while also teaching as an adjunct professor at the UST School of Theology at the Seminary in Houston. Well-versed in English, Latin, Italian, and Spanish (among others, to a lesser degree), he also enjoys health and fitness (CrossFit), reading, and painting.
