  • If you need assistance with the cost of the conference, we encourage you to apply for a partial or full scholarship (click here); if you feel called to contribute to our scholarship fund, you can do so at the time of registration.
  • Refund Information
  • If you are no longer able to attend the conference, after purchasing your ticket, you may choose to transfer your registration fees to a scholarship couple in need, or request a refund.
  • All refunds must be requested 2 weeks prior to the conference. The last day to request a refund is Friday, September 29. All refund requests made on or after September 30 will not be accepted, but the funds will automatically be transferred to a scholarship couple in need. Speakers

MOST REV. DANIEL H. MUEGGENBORG
Bishop of Reno

Born and raised in rural western Oklahoma, Bishop Mueggenborg graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1984 with a geology degree and a related computer science degree. He attended the pre-theology program at St. Meinrad Seminary in Indiana and the theology program at the Pontifical North American College in Rome. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Tulsa in 1989. Bishop Mueggenborg completed a Licentiate degree in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome in 1990. During his 30+ years as a priest, Bishop Mueggenborg has served as parochial vicar and pastor in several parishes and in a variety of ministerial roles, including high school chaplain and teacher, Newman Center chaplain, Director of Clergy and Education, and Vicar for Religious. He also served on the administrative staff of the Pontifical North American College and was adjunct professor at the Gregorian University. Pope Francis appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of Seattle on April 6, 2017, and he was ordained bishop on May 31, 2017. Bishop Mueggenborg comes from a farming and ranching family and enjoys mountain biking and hiking in his free time. He has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and has hiked the Grand Canyon as well as a substantial portion of the Camino de Santiago. He credits his love for the outdoors to his rural upbringing and his involvement in the Boy Scouts of America.

SUSIE SAENZ
Chief of Staff and Vice President, St. John Paul II Foundation

Susie Saenz is Chief of Staff and Vice President at the St. John Paul II Foundation where she is responsible for providing counsel to the President, managing the Office of the President, promoting overall operational efficiency for the Foundation across departments, and representing the Office of the President. Susie earned her BS in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University and, prior to joining the St. John Paul II Foundation in 2017, worked at Baylor College of Medicine in the philanthropy and alumni relations office. She and her husband, Victor, along with their son, are parishioners at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Houston and enjoy gathering with friends over a meal, wine, and lively conversation. Susie has benefited greatly from the mission of the St. John Paul II Foundation during her time as a team member and continues to be grateful and humbled to have the opportunity to use her gifts and talents to enrich the lives touched by this apostolate.

DAVID AND MICHELLE WILLEMS

David and Michelle Willems have been married 5 years (married the same day, Michelle graduated from law school!) and have 4 children: Lawrence and Lucy praying for them in heaven; Leo, 3; and Sophia, born March 20, 2023. David received his M. A. in Theology from the Augustine Institute in 2020. He currently serves as the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Diocese of Reno and enjoys reading and spending time with his wonderful family. Michelle is a practicing attorney but enjoys being a mom first and foremost. Together they are in awe of the journey God has called them on. They love finding joy and beauty in everyday moments and the challenge of raising little saints in an increasingly secular society. Their hobbies include running, reading, and having monthly date nights.

RYAN HANNING, PhD
Fellow, St. John Paul II Foundation

Ryan Hanning, PhD, serves as the Executive Vice President of Catholics Come Home and Virtue Media which provides media and educational resources in 11 different languages. He coordinates the outreach for Catholics Come Home and its apostolates and has helped lead over 20 Diocesan campaigns in the US, Canada, and Poland. He has helped expand the Catholics Come Home online presence with over 10 million views, and over 600,000 online followers. Dr. Hanning earned a PhD in Theology from Maryvale Institute in England and has studied at the University of Dallas, Cambridge, and the Jagiellonian, St. John Paul II’s alma mater. In addition to being a Fellow for the Institute of Theology, the St. John Paul II Foundation, and Havard Virtuous Leadership Institute, he has served in non-profit leadership and published books, and articles with Ignatius Press, TAN Publishing, Sword & Spade, The Catechetical Review, Ressourcement, Catholic Rural Life, and Hearth & Field. He has presented at conferences in the US, Mexico, Canada, and Europe and has been featured on EWTN and various national and international podcasts. Ryan serves as a founding editor for Creed & Culture Books, as well as Hearth & Field. He currently homesteads in Tennessee with his beautiful wife Rebecca, and their ten amazing children.
