About Together in Holiness

Where Spouses Discover God’s Plan for Their Family
Together in Holiness is a marriage conference series for dioceses that inspires spouses to grow together in holiness and empowers parents to form their children in the Catholic faith. To learn more about the Together in Holiness marriage enrichment initiative, click here.
  • "I am very pleased to welcome the second annual Together in Holiness conference to the Diocese of Reno on September 24, 2022. The foundation for renewal within the Church begins in the home as married couples embrace their mission and vocation to love. This mission can only be realized when the family is rooted in a life of prayer, particularly as spouses navigate the everyday struggles and joys of family life. I pray that married and engaged couples throughout the Diocese of Reno will join me at this event so that you will be strengthened in your calling to become true communities of prayer."

JOSHUA P. BITTING, PhD
Program Director

Dr. Joshua Bitting serves as Program Director for the Together in Holiness Formation series. Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, Joshua came into full communion with the Catholic Church on June 22nd, 2003, the Feast of Corpus Christi while completing his BA in philosophy at Southwestern College.  Joshua attended Franciscan University of Steubenville where he earned his MA in theology. Afterwards, he had the opportunity to study at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (Santa Croce) in Rome, Italy. Since then, he has served the Church in various capacities at both the parish and diocesan levels. He earned his PhD from the University of Notre Dame, Sydney, Australia, writing his dissertation on the formation of spouses and families as domestic churches.  Joshua and his beautiful wife, Amanda, have seven children and enjoy sharing the Gospel of life in their primary vocation as spouses and parents.

STEVE AND BECKY GREENE
Catholic Speakers, Writers, and Co-hosts of “The Catholic Conversation”

Steve and Becky Greene present together and individually about the Church’s teachings on the Theology of the Body, marriage, family, Natural Family Planning, and pro-life issues. A cradle Catholic, Steve is the Director for the Kino Catechetical Institute for the Diocese of Phoenix, who regularly writes and speaks on true masculinity, fatherhood, and modern philosophical errors. His articles have been featured in Crisis Magazine and The Catechetical Review. Becky, a former agnostic feminist, writes and speaks on her conversion story, authentic femininity, and motherhood. She also homeschools the couple's five children and helps her color-blind husband match his ties and shirts. When they're not shuttling children to sports, stepping on Legos, or telling someone to pick up dirty socks, the couple hosts the popular podcast show “The Catholic Conversation" with the Cradle and the Convert, which airs on all popular podcast platforms.

MOST REV. DANIEL H. MUEGGENBORG
Bishop of Reno

Born and raised in rural western Oklahoma, Bishop Mueggenborg graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1984 with a geology degree and a related computer science degree. He attended the pre-theology program at St. Meinrad Seminary in Indiana and the theology program at the Pontifical North American College in Rome. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Tulsa in 1989. Bishop Mueggenborg completed a Licentiate degree in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome in 1990. During his 30+ years as a priest, Bishop Mueggenborg has served as parochial vicar and pastor in several parishes and in a variety of ministerial roles, including high school chaplain and teacher, Newman Center chaplain, Director of Clergy and Education, and Vicar for Religious. He also served on the administrative staff of the Pontifical North American College and was adjunct professor at the Gregorian University. Pope Francis appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of Seattle on April 6, 2017, and he was ordained bishop on May 31, 2017. Bishop Mueggenborg comes from a farming and ranching family and enjoys mountain biking and hiking in his free time. He has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and has hiked the Grand Canyon as well as a substantial portion of the Camino de Santiago. He credits his love for the outdoors to his rural upbringing and his involvement in the Boy Scouts of America.

REV MARK HANIFAN

Fr. Mark Hanifan was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Reno in 2007. For 12 of his 15 years as a priest he has been a pastor. He now serves as pastor of St. Gall’s in Gardnerville, Nevada. He grew up an avid outdoorsman and believes the majesty and goodness of God is clearly displayed in creation. In his 15 years helping married couples understand their vocation to love one another, he has always loved sharing with them the integral connection between the spoken marital vow and sex, which is the embodiment of the marital vow. He has also loved sharing with them the three senses of love (eros, philias, and agape) and how agape is the love that will help them most in their married life.
