ARLAND K. NICHOLS
President, St. John Paul II Foundation
Arland K. Nichols is president and founder of the St. John Paul II Foundation. Early in his career, as an educator and non-profit executive, he became a popular speaker and successful writer while he established the groundwork for the initiatives that would become the St. John Paul II Foundation. Arland launched the St. John Paul II Foundation in 2014 and he is author of the 4th edition of the Handbook on Critical Life Issues published in 2024 by the National Catholic Bioethics Center. Arland earned a B.A. in philosophy from Texas A&M, an M.Div. in Theology from University of St. Thomas, and pursued doctoral studies in bioethics at Regina Apostolorum in Rome. With the generous support of his wife, Cindy, and their ten children, Arland is blessed to lead the St. John Paul II Foundation as it serves, educates, and supports medical professionals, married couples, and clergy.
MARY CAPRIO, CFCP, MAT, MTS
Associate Fellow, St. John Paul II Foundation
Mary Caprio is the Director of Family Life for St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, as well as the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. She is also an Associate Fellow for the St. John Paul II Foundation, adjunct faculty at the University of St. Thomas in the theology department, and is a Certified Fertility Care Practitioner for the Creighton Model System. Mary attended University of Texas Health Science at Houston for her Bachelor’s in Nursing and Loyola University of Chicago for a Master’s in Nursing. Mary obtained a Masters of Arts in Theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville and a Masters in Marriage and Family with a focus on Bioethics from the Pontifical Institute of John Paul II for Marriage and Family at the Catholic University of America. Mary is a local and national speaker on theology of the body, marriage, and family, and she is certified in Bioethics through the National Catholic Bioethics Center.
MARTIN N. MATULIA
Director of Philanthropy
Martin Matulia is Director of Philanthropy at the St. John Paul II Foundation. Mr. Matulia comes to the St. John Paul II Foundation from St. Thomas High School in Houston, where he served sixteen years as the Director of Campus Ministry. He also recently served on the Board of Directors of Magnificat Houses, Inc. in Houston for five years, and served as the Chairman of the Board for two years. Martin has a Master of Politics from the University of Dallas, and a B.S. with Honors in Political Science from Radford University (Va.). Martin also spent one year with the Order of St. Augustine and studied Graduate Theology at the Washington Theological Union. Martin and his wife Melinda are celebrating 25 years of marriage, and have three sons.
